School imageryyyy

Today was my last day of year eight before the summer holidays, and I really can't believe its gone so fast!

Man, my life is speeding away! It's seems so dumb, but I never do anything all that different, I've never been bad or naughty.... if I looked at myself without knowing me, I'd be like 'boring geek'. Seriously dudes, I've never done one bad thing at school in my life.

Huh, kinda boring...

On my 13th birthday I told myself I was going to make the most of this year you know- everyday you get older, before long your life is gone. And well, whats the point of living if you dont do anything?!?

I dunno, my 14th birthday is in a few months, so mabye one day I'll have a proper teen-y day, ya'know and be BAD!

Ha.... me, bad...

Yeah! Wouldn't it be cool if just for one day you could completly change you image? Right- normally at school this is me- no makeup, perfect uniform, shy, uncertain, kinda wacko, geek-y, long lose hair-i-cant-be-bothered-doing-anything-with.

If i had one day of a new image then I would cut off my hair and make it dead short and spiky, dye it red green and blue, pile on a ton of masacra and eyeliner, stripy knee lenght socks (yeh!) , messy uniform, diddy tie, wild and whoohooo and I'd do no work and pull a fire alarm of two and- HAHAHAHAHA- just for the sake of it flirt with a boy or to. xD man that'd be so fun! Oh yeh, and set lose tons of mice and spiders and lizards in all the staffrooms!

Whoooh, maybe one day...

Um, yeah, sorry kinda wacko post but :P

love

Spring!

Howdy there folks! I would say sorry, but its still March- right? ;) Well..... ITS SPRING!!!!!!!* Thank goodness, after this long, long winter I can finally put away the heavy sweaters and wear SLEEVESS TOPS!!!! :DDDD Man, i've had two winters this year, because last summer I went to Aussie land, and though it was radical, it was winter.... then I had the, er, gorgeous UK winter to look forward to... BLEEUGHH! >.< But today, it was actually hot- thus, I am in a good mood! Also, today me and my family bunked off school and went camping in a forest! Yay! I climbed this really tall tree and yeah, I got stuck and half fell out of it- but I dont care because the ground was covered in lovely moss and brambles! And it was sunny! Did I mention? Huh, and I nearly got squashed by a train =D Alls well ends well! ] Oooh, I read a book that you should totally read- its called 'Eyes Like Stars' and its rockin dude!(s!) *But spring, don't think your getting away scot free- because even though I'm fed up of winter- he never stole an hour from me? Did he? *glowers* Head down and reflect. Byee!!!! :) xx <3

Happy New Year!

Um, well... wow. Here in the UK its been 2011 for 43 odd minutes now, and blimey- its feels so strange!
But, I just wanted to wish everyone of you a really, really, very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Today is the start of a new decade, a new adventure for all of us... I hope in the new year you'll all be happy, content- get the book deal you've always wanted, have many happy/ amazing/ funny moments that you'll remember forever, find that perfect story idea/spark of inspiration, love and live life and everyone in it- and take life full on- because you only live once, so you know what I say? GO AND BE ALIVE DUDE!

2010 hasn't been all to shabby- but there's been the highs, the lows, bits when I was scared, sad, happy, alive- and I wouldn't take back any of those moments. Every mistake I made last year I'm more than happy to learn from and I hope it'll make me a better person in whole.
Last year I think I grew a lot as an aspiring author- I wrote 80,000 words of rubbish in my plotless story- Another Life, then another 10's of thousands in story begings where I tried out different mediums of writing.
Also in 2010, I:

1. Learnt how to ride a bike
2.Visited Austraia, Hong Kong, Thailand and places from my wildest dreams
3. Went in for a dance exam I was NO WHERE NEAR ready for
4. Had my first crush
5. Wrote nearly every lunch at school for a solid two months

Wow, there's countless more moments of 2010 that I'd love to note, but those were the first that came to mind.

For 2011 I only really have two serious 'resoulutions' (but I do believe that if you want to achieve something, never mind waiting for the new year- do it now and go for it!) But never the less, here are my two 'wanting to do's'...

1. Write a novel, stick to it, make it shine and ENJOY the freedom of writing.

2. Get out more, go for more walks, make new friends- spend less time cooped up in my room!

Well, enough from me- I wish you all the very best- have the most fabulous, amazing, awesome, fantastical, brilliant, super duper, stunning, magic year ever.

HAPPY 2011 DUDES!!!!

festive hugs and love from

Wow- long time no see!

Um, well... hiya! I'm back again! [not that you've probably missed my blabbering though!] If you care about this bloggy thing then sorry for not writing for, urm, a month and a half.
-blushes the brightest beetroot red ever seen- and I mean EVER!-
Please- no- don't through that mouldy old carrot at me! (do carrots even get mouldy? o.O) I have some excuses.....
Well, no. 1: I'm a school kid and my stupid school has introduced millons of 'Assess Pupils Progress' homeworks and tests, so I had a gazillion of them to do. Grrrrrr!
No. 2: I was verrry embarrased..... I epically failed at Nanowrimo.... :'( I mean- if I had applied myself I bet I could've done it (yes sir, really sir!) But with the dumb A.P.P's I started a week late, and in the end I only wrote for a week. I wrote 14,000 words though!
Yeah, I failed. Epically.
No. 3: It was my birthday on the 9th! ^.^ Now I'm thirteen- but I certainly don't feel like a teen! Teehee, when I was diddy I thought anyone older than nine was an ANCIENT old lady! Um, I'm an 'old lady' then.... :D

Hmmm, I just read ma reasons through, and they seem kinda lame....
- hands christmas cookies over grudgingly -
Christmas spirit? Goodwill? :B

Ohhhh, if anyones interested I've joined Inkpop! My sucky nano 'novel' is posted if you curious as to how atrociously bad my use of the english language is....
http://inkpop.com/projects/84199/shattered/ (if that doesn't work, my username is 'Katkin'!!!!)

I promise I will write back soon!!!!

Merry Christmas!
Katharine :) xx <3

An award! *squee*

Well, at the minute I'm kinda dancing crazily to she and him music, which, ya know is pretty weird, so please, please don't picture it.... right, sorry, I just had coke, and, well- you know- it puts me in a verryyy hypey moooodddd!!!! :P

Well, the really super UBER awesome [my highest praise -nods seriously-] Sam [howdyyy!!!!] from One Sparkling Star has given/ passed on an award to me! Yeah, that explains the c-c-crazzzyyy dancing folks! Firstly, thank you sooooo much! And secondly, um, I have no idea what to do next, but I'll follow the great Sam's example. {-puts on brave face and prepares to march into battle-} Yay!

Sooo, I'm assuming I need to answer the question.... of life or death.... dun, dun DUUUNNN!!!

If I had the chance to go back and change one thing in my life, would I and what would it be?

Um, well..... I suppoossseee there are a few things, but whatcha know, is that my plane leaving?

.......... ok then..... *sigh* I'll tell ya....

Well, theres the boy [obviously], the writing and the summer hols, when I wasted soo much time sleeping. Of all things to do on the other side of the world......

I'll start with writing.... well, firstly I would've started writing stories, way, waaayyy earlier, cos, I mean- I could be sooo much better than I am now! Also, I wouldn't have written that stupid soppy poem that some how managed to scrape 1st place because it was read out in assembly.

Let me tell you, it was very, very [and I mean VERY] soppy. -winces-

I also wouldn't have flirted like, big time with that boy I sit next to.... I wouldn't have sat next to him in assembly's cos, now, well, now its just embarrasing.... like, BIG time. [he's completly in love with Milo, annddd he's an immature jerk. Lol. O_o]

And when I had the once in the lifetime chance to go to Australia, I wouldn't have slept in every. Single. Day. Man, what was I thinking?

And most of all..... I would not have sang at the top of my voice yesterday in form. Ouch, nasty....

Yeah, they're all kinda tiny, but I betcha I'll have many, many more embarrasing moments coming up in my teeny teen life. Woopdydoo. ;-)

Okay, 5 people to give the award to.....

Some Screaming Fan Girl because I totally looovvee her blog and her clever way of saying even the most simple of things....

Broken Angel because her rants on life and other stuff always make me smile. And, she seems kinda glum at the mo. :)

Wribe because her writing advice is so superdooperly awesome dude!

Steph Bowe because quiet frankly shes awesome dude. 16 with a published book? Bravoo!!!

Aahnicole because she's so honest plus she always takes the time to write a poem for the end of every post.

They're uber awesome dude!

Thats all from me for now!

Hugs and kisses

Music saves my soul.

Well, what can I say? I think music is a big part of every writers life; it stops the place you're writing in from being big, hollow, lonely. It takes some of the loneliness away from this strange, solitary hobby.

Yes, I am talking about writing.

I've put together many a playlist for my storys, and its bizarre when I go back and listen to one! Boy, so many memorys from a story I once imagined....

Sorry, I'm rambling again, aren't I?

Hey ho- you don't have to read this if ya don't want to!

I tend to judge a person on the music they listen to, if they listen to the kind of music I do, then I like them better at first?!? [if that makes any sense!]

Hmmm.... I love all [well, I think I do, but I haven't listen to all bands!] indie music, you know, like Regina Spektor [I'm freakin in love with her music!!!] Belle and Sebastion, She and Him, The Waterboys, The Beatles [well, what can I say? ;-)] and about a trillion other bands I won't bore you with!

What kind of music do you listen to? [don't worry- I won't judge you! (wait, why would any of you be worried about a little 12 year old thousands of miles away from you in rainy england?)]

I think its time for me to go now.....

Hugs and kisses,
Katharine xxx

My Top Five Books

Well, this is going to be verrry hard to do, as I love so many books, but I'll give it a shot!
Well, here go's, a 12 year olds top five books!

The Stravaganza books are a firm childhood favourite of mine, with their swift, different plots they keep you gripped from the very begging, all the way to the end.

They are so good, that they even manage to keep eight year old me transfixed!

When I was eight, I picked City of Stars because it had a horse on the front of it. Later that night I could be found hunched under my covers, reading by tourchlight.

*Note* they're not kids books, [they're YA] but I just read them when I was a little kiddiwink, which I suppose I still kinda am...

Honestly one of my favourite books EVER, North Child is the stunning, brave tale of Rose Eva, Trolls and polar bears. Add in belts, capes, and magical dresses that shimmer like moonlight, and you have the perfect novel which is North Child.

I read this book a few years ago in the summer holidays [I love reading about snow in the summer, and vice versa!] and I was gripped.

Its quite a thick book, and all the glue melted in the French heat, but I still kept reading until the stunning end.

Honestly, its a must read book- and I bet you'd love it! ;-)

I read this book in... you guessed it- Australia this summer hols. A stunning novel of amazing quality, hilarious, tender, sweet and true, it deserves its 'classic' status.

The ending is tragic, and it made me cry and cry, which is the mark of any good novel. If you have kids, or if you are a kid, then I highly recommend this book- and if your an adult, I recommend it to!

Another childrens book, but yet another classic, well loved tale. It has been one of my favourite books since I was five, and still holds that staus today. Really, read it. Its well worth it!

I ordered this book the other day, and it arrived yesterday, I haven't finshed it yet, but...

....

.......

OMG. Its so scary, exhilarating, freaky, creepy, a modern masterpiece of bittersweet, life, and death.

I'm watching the movie tomorrow at a friends house, and I plan on finishing this scary, amazing book before then.

Well, thats my top five- whats yours?

I'd love to hear from you! [s!]

Hello all!

Welcome to the Velvet Owl, my square inch in the blogging world. [I'm so excited to begin this thing!!!] I'm an author [hahaha, what a joke! Katharine- I think you mean a wannabe author!]Well, I've finished one novel [before you ask- its dreadful! Complete rubbish if I've ever seen it!]
Also, I'm young. Verrry young, kinda. I'm twelve years, nine months and ten days [ecetra!!!] old, and- like many- I aspire to become a published author. [somedaaay over the raainbow] Pretty unlikely, ay?
Yeah, I thought so. Yet I still refuse to be disheartened. This blog will be a reminder to be to get off my lazy backside and do some writing.
I have a confession kind reader.... I haven't written any of my WIP in over a month, just short of 20,000 words.
More on that book later!
Well, this is a little piece of me, my hopes, desires, dreams. Like a diary- but cooler.
I hope you enjoy and comment if you a) like my blog and journey b) find it BORINGG!!!! c) absolutely hate it.
Or for any other reason- even if you just wanna say 'hey dude!'

So, adios for now- but I will be back... [Mwhahahahahaha]

<3 Hugs and kisses <3
